“That’s So Raven” Spinoff Ordered to Series

“That’s so Raven”

Oh snap! We’re getting a “That’s So Raven” spinoff. The Hollywood Reporter writes that Disney Channel has ordered “Raven’s Home” to series. Raven-Symoné will reprise her role as Raven Baxter in the multi-camera comedy and serve as an executive producer.

Scheduled to go into production this month, the show centers on Raven and her longtime best friend Chelsea Daniels (Anneliese van der Pol), “who are now divorced single mothers raising their two separate families in one chaotic but fun household full of friends,” THR summarizes. “When one of Raven’s kids begins to show signs that they have inherited her trait of catching glimpses of the future, the already hectic household gets turned upside down, keeping even Raven on her toes.”

“Raven’s Home” is expected to premiere in 2017. The supporting cast includes Navia Robinson (“Being Mary Jane”) and Sky Katz (“America’s Got Talent”).

While the Emmy-nominated original series aired from 2003–07, THR reports that Disney’s midnight repeat airings of “That’s So Raven” have done strong numbers, “drawing 1.1 million total viewers in 2016.” Raven-Symoné received four NAACP Image Awards for her role.

“There is only one Raven — and for over 25 years, she has blessed audiences around the world with the greatest gift of all — the pure, unadulterated joy of laugh-out-loud funny,” said Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer at Disney Channels Worldwide. “After being a part of over 20 different Disney projects, we are thrilled to be bringing Raven home to Disney Channel once again.”

Raven-Symoné was named co-host of “The View” in June 2015, and in October 2016 the “Cosby Show” alumna announced that she’d be leaving the talk show to pursue “Raven’s Home.” “Nashville,” “Black-ish,” and “Empire” are among her recent acting credits.
