Kaley Cuoco has plenty more flights to log and international mysteries to solve. “The Flight Attendant” has been renewed for a second season on HBO Max. A press release from the streamer confirmed the news.
Exec produced by Cuoco, the comedic thriller tells the story of Cassie, an alcoholic, self-destructive flight attendant whose life changes overnight after she hooks up with one of her passengers, Alex (Michiel Huisman, “Game of Thrones”), in Bangkok, and wakes up next to his dead body, his throat slashed. In a panic, she flees the scene. Season 1 sees Cassie struggling to recall exactly what happened that night and trying to evade the same fate as Alex. Rosie Perez (“Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn”) and Zosia Mamet (“Girls”) co-star as Cassie’s co-worker and best friend, respectively. Susanna Fogel directed the first two episodes of the series.
“The Flight Attendant’s” finale suggested that a newly sober Cassie may be recruited into the CIA’s Human Asset program.
“We have been having some conversations about what a second season would look like,” Cuoco told The New York Times prior to “The Flight Attendant’s” renewal. “All of Cassie’s antics before, it was always like, ‘Well, that’s just Cassie!’ What if we go down this route of her living this new lifestyle, trying to be sober and clean up her act, and there is no excuse anymore? And what does work now look like? What does love now look like?”
Best known for her role as Penny on “The Big Bang Theory,” Cuoco’s other credits include “The Wedding Ringer” and “8 Simple Rules.” She voices Harley Quinn on DC Universe’s adult animated television series of the same name.
