The Quad to Celebrate “The New York Woman” in Upcoming Film Series

Leslie Harris' "Just Another Girl on the IRT" will screen

The Quad has announced an upcoming film series titled “The New York Woman,” a collection of 50-plus films that will be screened June 29-July 19 at the NYC venue.  The selected pics, encompassing nearly 100 years of cinema, center on “the female protagonist’s experience of the Big Apple, with its seemingly endless possibilities.”

“The New York Woman” marks The Quad’s largest retrospective yet. It will showcase “diverse female-driven stories” set in all five boroughs — including tales of “ambition, romance, rebellion, and risk, portraits of shopgirls, party girls, working girls, unmarried women, society dames, mad housewives, and ladies about town trying to make it big, or just get by, in a city of glass towers and glass ceilings.”

Among “New York Woman’s” titles are “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” “Funny Girl,” “Just Another Girl on the I.R.T.,” “The Last Days of Disco,” “Walking and Talking,” “An Unmarried Woman,” and “Mixed Blood.”

The current “New York Woman” titles are below. Additional films and special guests will be announced. Keep an eye on The Quad’s website for announcements and more information about the film series.
