Fantasy fans, rejoice. Maggie Stiefvater’s best-selling four-book series “The Raven Cycle” is being adapted for TV, and Catherine Hardwicke has signed on to helm the pilot and serve as an executive producer, Birth.Movies.Death. reports.

According to Publishers Marketplace, the story follows “four private school boys and a psychic’s daughter who quest for a sleeping king of Welsh legend in the mountains of Virginia, uncovering ancient magic, powerful dreams, and the devils in themselves.” The first installment of “The Raven Cycle” was published in 2012, and the final book hit shelves in 2016.

Andrew Miller (“The Secret Circle”) will act as showrunner. No word on casting or potential networks.

Another upcoming adaptation of a woman-penned fantasy novel we’re keeping an eye on is “Maresi.” The award-winning YA title was written by Finnish author Maria Turtschaninoff, and the film rights to the book have been optioned by Film4, the London-based company behind Andrea Arnold’s “American Honey.”

“Miss You Already,” “Twilight,” and “Thirteen” are among Hardwicke’s credits. She helmed the music video for “Til It Happens to You,” the Oscar-nominated Lady Gaga and Diane Warren song featured in 2015 documentary “The Hunting Ground.” The film investigates the ubiquity of sexual assault on U.S. campuses and the rape culture within those institutions that denies survivors justice.

Hardwicke’s upcoming projects include a big screen adaptation of YA novel “Stargirl” toplined by Joey King (“Fargo”) and a remake of the 2011 Academy Award-nominated Mexican drama “Miss Bala.”
