Great news for fans of NBC’s “Smash.” The creator behind the musical drama is set to reunite with two of its stars. Theresa Rebeck will write and direct “Trouble,” an indie comedy drama with a cast that includes “Smash” alums Anjelica Huston and Brian d’Arcy James.
“Trouble” centers on the troubled relationship between a sister (Huston) and brother (Bill Pullman). Julia Stiles (“Dexter”) co-stars.
Rebeck will produce the project alongside Rachel Dengiz, Jaclyn Bashoff, and Julie Buck. In addition to her acting duties, Huston will executive produce.
“Smash” aired from 2012 to 2013. Rebeck’s prolific writing career extends beyond television; she’s also written films, including “Harriet the Spy,” dozens of plays such as “Seminar” and “The Understudy,” and novels, most recently “I’m Glad About You,” a story about star-crossed lovers published in 2016.
