After signing a first-look deal with HBO in January, “Girls Trip” breakout Tiffany Haddish has set up her first project with the premium cable network. The stand-up comedian will executive produce a comedy series in development at the network, Variety confirms.
Described as “an examination of female blackness, beauty, and identity through a behind-the-scenes look at the Instagram hustle,” the project is titled “Unsubscribed” and comes from EPs and writers Xosha Roquemore and Danielle Henderson. The former is best known for her role as Tamra on “The Mindy Project” and the latter’s writing credits include “Divorce” and “Difficult People.”
Haddish stars alongside Tracy Morgan in TBS’ “The Last O.G.” Currently in its first season, the comedy centers on an ex-con who returns home after a 15-year stint in prison. Her upcoming gigs include Andrea Berloff’s Irish mob story “The Kitchen” and GED exam comedy “Night School.”
You can catch Haddish hosting The MTV Movie and TV Awards on June 18.
Roquemore will be a series regular on Season 2 of Showtime stand-up comedy series “I’m Dying Up Here.” Henderson was a writer on Emma Stone’s upcoming Netflix dark comedy series “Maniac.” She created the Feminist Ryan Gosling website.
