Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Developing New Shows

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s takeover of TV — or at least my TV — continues.

Fey and Poehler each announced new projects for the small screen yesterday. Fey will collaborate with comedienne and Chelsea Lately writer Fortune Feimster on a semi-autobiographical multi-cam sitcom at ABC. Creators Feimster and Matt Hubbard based the show on the former’s North Carolina background and family life; Fey will executive produce. Feimster worked with Fey and Hubbard on the buried-before-it-aired Cabot College.

Poehler, meanwhile, will stay at NBC and develop a single-cam workplace comedy with Parks and Recreation executive producer Aisha Muharrar. Poehler’s protege will pen the new series, in which “a young agnostic woman inherits a church and the colorful ensemble of characters within,” according to the AV Club.

For those in serious Fey/Poehler withdrawal like myself, the latter’s memoir, Yes, Please, will go on sale next week on October 28. Then we’ll have to suffer through a few months until the duo returns to host the Golden Globes for a third time on January 11, 2015. Next year will also bring back Parks and Rec for its final, 13-episode season, as well as the premiere of Fey’s The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, starring Ellie Kemper as a woman who struggles to navigate Manhattan life after escaping a cult.
