As we reported last week, NBC picked up a comedy produced by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock from 30 Rock writer Colleen McGuinness–a workplace set comedy about a young woman who is looking to reconnect with her father and finds a new family on Fire Island.
Later that same day, another pilot Fey had been shopping around got picked up with a series commitment by Fox. Fey, Robert Carlock and David Miner will executive produce the project, which will be written by Matt Hubbard. The currently untitled comedy will focus on a women’s college that decides to open its doors to men for the first time.
It is rare to get a series pickup this early in the year and this clearly shows the demand for Fey’s work. If she keeps going like this, Fey could very well be like Shonda Rhimes. We’d be very happy if both Fey and Rhimes were taking over our televisions with their many projects.
