The nominations for the 29th European Film Awards won’t be revealed until November, but the 50 films recommended for nomination have been announced. Eleven of the titles, or 22 percent, are directed by women.

“In the coming weeks, more than 3,000 members of the European Film Academy will vote for the nominations in the categories European Film, Director, Actor, Actress, and Screenwriter,” ScreenDaily reports .

The nominations will be unveiled at the Seville European Film Festival November 5, and the awards ceremony will take place in Poland on December 10.

The 50 films recommended for nomination include Maren Ade’s Cannes hit “Toni Erdmann,” Athina Rachel Tsangari’s dark comedy “Chevalier,” and “Suffragette,” Sarah Gavron’s drama depicting how women in the UK fought to secure the right to vote.
