Multi-disciplinary artist Prune Nourry always loved anatomy, and gained an international following for her projects exploring bioethics. “I was working a lot about the body, but I think I lost my body on the way,” she says in a new trailer for “Serendipity.” The doc is directed by Nourry and examines how Nourry’s relationship with her work, identity, and body evolved in the wake of being diagnosed with breast cancer.
“Am I still a woman with short hair and one breast?” Nourry asks in the spot. The multi-hyphenate comes to realize that “health is everything,” and learns to work “in a different way. Once you accept it,” she explains, “it makes things easier. It brings you to the essential — health and love. And art.”
Nourry is best known for her work in sculpture, photography, and video. Her exhibitions and performances include “Contemporary Archaeology,” “Anima,” and “Terracotta Daughters.”
“Serendipity” hits select theaters October 18. Angelina Jolie is among its exec producers.
