Trailer Watch: A Nurse Is Obsessed with Saving Her Patient’s Soul in “Saint Maud”

"Saint Maud"

“It takes nothing special to mop up after the dying, but to save a soul — that’s quite something,” says Morfydd Clark in a new trailer for “Saint Maud.” Rose Glass’ feature debut sees Clark playing Maud, a devout hospice nurse obsessed with saving her dying patient’s soul. Convinced that Amanda’s (Jennifer Ehle, “A Quiet Passion”) mind is “shrouded in darkness,” Maud vows to bring god into her life before it’s too late.

Amanda isn’t exactly enthusiastic about embarking on a more pious path. She’s more interested in having fun, and wants Maud to loosen up as well. But Maud is on a mission, and she’s willing to do anything to accomplish it.

“Saint Maud” made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and is slated to hit theaters in spring 2020. Check out the trailer to see Maud’s reaction to being told that god isn’t real.
