Trailer Watch: A Pot Farmer Struggles to Adapt with the Times in “Freeland”

"Freeland": Big Tangent

“The universe is looking out for you. You’re going to find your right path,” says Krisha Fairchild in a new trailer for “Freeland.” Kate McLean and Mario Furloni’s SXSW drama sees the “Krisha” star playing Devi, an aging pot farmer who is struggling to find her own path in the midst of major changes in her industry.

Facing a fine she can’t pay, the threat of eviction, and pressure to modernize in the wake of pot legalization, Devi finds herself fighting for survival.

“Freeland” was shot on off-the-grid pot farms during the actual harvest. The pic, set to hit select theaters October 15 and on demand November 19, marks McLean’s feature debut. She co-wrote its script with Furloni.
