“You’re such a special kid,” a mother (Alisha Wainwright) tells her son (Ja’Siah Young) in a new trailer for “Raising Dion.” Nicole’s referring to Dion’s charm, intelligence, and good looks, but he’s more special than either of them realize — until a near-miss with tragedy makes his unique identity impossible to ignore. The spot for the upcoming Netflix series shows Dion teleport to avoid being hit by a car.

Nicole is a widow and single mom, and raising Dion just got a whole lot more complicated. Determined to get his abilities “under control,” she’s warned that “the government is tracking people who have superpowers.”

Carol Barbee (“UnREAL”) created “Raising Dion” and serves as showrunner. The comic book adaptation hits Netflix October 4.
