Trailer Watch: Abbie Cornish Fights to Remember Her Past in “Lavender”

“Lavender”

Abbie Cornish plays a woman haunted by a past she can’t remember in “Lavender.” “I’m not sure if I’m seeing things, remembering things, or someone’s messing with my head,” Jane (Cornish) says in a newly released trailer for the thriller.

A serious car accident leads Jane to the hospital, where the photographer is told that a trauma from her childhood has left a major mark on her brain — and her reality. “Scar tissue can impede long term memory, kind of like a splinter in the brain, just waiting for the body to push it out,” a doctor tells her. It looks like Jane’s body is finally pushing those memories out.

The suspenseful trailer is sparse when it comes to plot details, but it’s clear that Jane cannot move forward until she uncovers what happened in her past. The film’s official synopsis offers more context: “Strange clues amongst [Jane’s] photos suggest she may be responsible for the deaths of family members she never knew she had.”

Cornish’s credits include “Sucker Punch,” “Limitless,” “Bright Star,” “Elizabeth: The Golden Age,” and “Somersault.”

Directed by Ed Gass-Donnelly (“The Last Exorcism Part II”), “Lavender” hits theaters, VOD, and Digital HD March 3. The film co-stars Justin Long (“New Girl”), Diego Klattenhoff (“Homeland”), Dermot Mulroney (“Shameless”), and Sarah Abbott (“Heroes Reborn”).
