Alexandra Pelosi is bursting her own bubble. “I may live in liberal America, but I know that this is not the only America,” the director explains in a trailer for her upcoming HBO documentary. “What we rarely see on TV is people having genuine conversations with people they don’t agree with.” “Outside the Bubble: On the Road with Alexandra Pelosi” sees the “Journeys with George” helmer doing just that. She travels to Middle America, where she hopes to learn from listening to her fellow Americans as they sound off on issues including race, jobs, and women’s rights.

“We’re in an epic battle for the soul of the United States right now,” says one of the women she meets.

“The Words That Built America” and “Fall to Grace” are among Pelosi’s previous credits. Her mother is House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi.

“Outside the Bubble: On the Road with Alexandra Pelosi” debuts on HBO October 29.
