Zoya the Destroyer, Liberty Belle, Machu Picchu, Welfare Queen, and your other faves are returning to the ring. A trailer has dropped for “GLOW’s” second season, and it sees the “Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling” reprising their on-screen roles and dealing with backstage drama.
Debbie (Betty Gilpin) is in the midst of divorcing her husband, and she hasn’t forgiven Ruth (Alison Brie) for her role in the marriage’s dissolution. “Usually you do a lot better job of keeping your weird friendship stuff out of the ring,” Carmen (Britney Young) says to the former BFFs.
The pro wrestlers’ show is at risk of cancellation, and to add insult to injury, a men’s wrestling show is given their time slot. Their costumes may still smell of “beer and racism,” but the women aren’t going to go down without a fight. “I know what I’m worth and I’m not apologizing to anyone,” Debbie proclaims. Ruth, meanwhile, seems to find herself in a #MeToo-inspired situation that could affect the show’s future. “GLOW” has made some fans along the way, though. Check out the trailer to see some hilariously awkward fan interactions.
Season 2 of “GLOW” drops on Netflix June 29. The show was created by Liz Flahive (“Nurse Jackie”) and Carly Mensch (“Orange Is the New Black”).
