An unexpected connection forged on 23andMe leads to a life-changing trip to China in “Found,” Amanda Lipitz’s latest. A trailer for the doc sees three adopted American teenage girls discovering that they are blood-related cousins. “It opened up new ideas about our adoption,” we’re told.
The trio enlist a history and travel group to help locate their birth parents. “Looking for one’s lost history is important,” the person leading efforts to assist the girls explains. The teens travel to China in search of answers. “Everyone keeps telling me it’s my home place. I don’t remember it at all,” one shares.
Lipitz made her directorial debut with “Step,” a 2017 doc following a girls’ step dance team during their senior year at a Baltimore high school.
“Found” launches on Netflix October 20.
