Amy Schumer gets an invisible makeover that changes her life in “I Feel Pretty.” The comedy sees her playing Renee, a woman who suffers from low self-esteem. Convinced that her life is adversely affected by her looks, she’s “always wondered what it feels like to be undeniably pretty,” she admits in a new trailer for the pic.
“Women know deep down it’s what’s on the outside that the whole world judges,” Renee says. Her theory is put to the test when an accident at a Soul Cycle class leaves her completely physically transformed — but in her eyes alone. “I look exactly the same but in my mind I am Giselle [Bündchen], I am one of the Jenner-Kardashians,” Schumer explained on “Ellen,” where she premiered the spot. Renee starts living with the confidence of a super model even though she doesn’t look like one.
Schumer was last seen in “The Leather Special,” a stand-up special for Netflix. She received a Directors Guild of America nomination for helming the project. “Trainwreck,” her first starring role on the big screen, was a huge box office success and took in more than $140 million worldwide.
“I Feel Pretty” marks the feature directorial debut of writing partners Abby Cohn and Marc Silverstein (“The Vow,” “How to Be Single”). The pic hits theaters June 29. Michelle Williams (“All the Money in the World”), Busy Philipps (“Cougar Town”), Aidy Bryant (“SNL”), and Emily Ratajkowski (“Gone Girl”) co-star.
