Trailer Watch: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Are an Emotional Mr. & Mrs. Smithereens in ‘By the Sea’

Just days ahead of its world premiere on November 5 at AFI Fest, “By the Sea” has a newly cut trailer.

Written and directed by Angelina Jolie Pitt, the sun-drenched but dour-looking marital drama stars the actress-turned-filmmaker and her husband, Brad Pitt, as a glamorous but mutually repulsed husband and wife on vacation in a last-ditch effort to save their marriage. The coy trailer plays with the idea of the film as a kind of warped mirror into the Pitts’ real-life marriage, even showing Jolie Pitt’s ex-dancer character looking through a peephole (see above) to see what the couple are up to. (Nothing resembling wedded bliss.)

“By the Sea” opens November 13.
