“If you’re lucky enough to live, live, and if you get the chance to dance, dance,” we’re told in a new trailer for Season 2, Part 2 of “PEN15.” Middle-schoolers Anna (Anna Konkle) and Maya (Maya Erskine) don’t need the reminder to live and dance freely, but injustices, real and imagined, are weighing them down.
Anna is struggling to adapt to living in two different households with her recently separated parents and being treated like a kid only “when it’s convenient.” Maya is frustrated that her brother is gifted a cell phone and she’s told she’s not mature enough for one yet. “You don’t even know how to wipe,” Maya’s mom emphasizes, holding her 13-year-old daughter’s underwear. Maya is also worried that she’s a third wheel now that Anna has a boyfriend.
Created by Konkle, Erskine, and Sam Zvibleman, “PEN15” returns to Hulu December 3. The Peabody-winning series dropped an animated special, “Jacuzzi,” in August.
