Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie couldn’t be any further from the Oregon wilderness in “Last Night in Soho.” The psychological horror pic sees the “Leave No Trace” breakout and “Jojo Rabbit” star playing an aspiring fashion designer living in London.
Eloise (McKenzie) has the mysterious ability to travel back in time to the 1960s, where she’s introduced to a glamorous singer she becomes fixated on, Sandie (Anya Taylor-Joy). Convinced that Sandie has been murdered, Eloise reports the crime. “Do you believe in ghosts?” she asks. An incredulous cop doesn’t seem convinced that her “vision” justifies an investigation.
Up next for McKenzie is “Perfect,” Olivia Wilde’s biopic of Olympic gymnast Kerri Strug.
Taylor-Joy is up for an Emmy for her performance as a chess prodigy in Netflix smash “The Queen’s Gambit.” Her upcoming slate includes “Mad Max: Fury Road” prequel “Furiosa.”
“Last Night in Soho” arrives in theaters October 29. Krysty Wilson-Cairns co-wrote the script with the film’s director, Edgar Wright.
