Currently starring as Monica Lewinsky in “American Crime Story: Impeachment,” the story of the former White House intern’s affair with President Bill Clinton, Beanie Feldstein is tackling another pop culture sensation in a new Apple TV+ animated series. “Harriet the Spy” sees the “Lady Bird” actress voicing the iconic character. “If I want to be a writer, I have to know everything, and to know everything, I have to see everything. The only way to see everything is to be a spy,” she explains in a new trailer for the show.
The spot hints that “rules will be broken” on Harriet’s journey to crack a case. She’s risking detention to get a scoop on a story. Harriet is something of a rebel. When she’s told to follow “like young ladies are supposed to” during a dance lesson, she is quick to correct her teacher and say that “girls can lead too!”
“Harriet the Spy” starts streaming on Apple TV+ November 19. The series is based on Louise Fitzhugh’s 1964 children’s novel, which has served as the source material for a number of adaptations, including a 1996 live-action pic starring Michelle Trachtenberg.
