Billie Piper is in desperate need of a TARDIS to take her far, far away from the wreckage of a scandal in “I Hate Suzie.” A trailer just dropped for the HBO Max comedy about a waning star whose phone gets hacked. A photo of Suzie (Piper) in an “extremely compromising position” — with a man who is not her husband — goes viral.
“I’m a terrible mother, terrible wife, slightly above average actress,” says Suzie. She is determined not to “play the victim,” despite being told it is her “greatest role to date.”
Created by Piper and “Succession” scribe Lucy Prebble, the series follows the “various stages of Lucy’s trauma episode by episode, through Shock, Denial, Fear, Shame, Bargaining, Guilt, Anger, and Acceptance as Suzie and her best friend and manager Naomi try to hold her life, career, and marriage together in the face of being exposed for who she truly is. But who the hell even is that?” the project’s synopsis teases.
Perhaps best known for her role as Rose on “Doctor Who,” Piper’s other credits include “Collateral,” “Penny Dreadful,” and “Secret Diary of a Call Girl.”
“I Hate Suzie” premieres on HBO Max November 19.
