Spotted: Blake Lively on the warpath in a new trailer for “The Rhythm Section.” Reed Morano’s latest sees the “Gossip Girl” alumna determined to exact revenge after she discovers that her family’s death in an airplane crash wasn’t an accident. With nothing to lose and a new sense of purpose, she takes on the identity of an assassin to track down and kill those responsible.
“I’m going to say this once. Even if you succeed, it won’t be worth it,” Stephanie (Lively) is warned. She doesn’t heed the advice.
“The Rhythm Section” is based on Mark Burnell’s “Stephanie Patrick” book series.
“A Simple Favor,” “All I See Is You,” and “The Shallows” are among Lively’s recent credits.
Morano launched her career as a cinematographer. She won an Emmy for directing “The Handmaid’s Tale” and made her feature directorial debut with Olivia Wilde-starrer “Meadowland.” She most recently helmed “I Think We’re Alone Now,” a post-apocalyptic drama led by Elle Fanning and Peter Dinklage. Morano will step behind the camera for Amazon’s upcoming series adaptation of “The Power,” Naomi Alderman’s novel about a world where teen girls develop the power to harness electricity and shock people at will.
“The Rhythm Section hits theaters January 31.
