Career Day is shaping up to be a super memorable affair in a new trailer for “A Happening of Monumental Proportions.” Set in an elementary school, Judy Greer’s directorial debut tells a series of interconnected stories about students, teachers, and parents. The school’s groundskeeper has passed away unexpectedly. Since he’s already dead, medical services don’t consider the situation an emergency and school personnel are stuck figuring out a place to store his corpse.
“We have to carry out a dead body in the middle of career day,” says Allison Janney’s character. Meanwhile, an account manager (Common) — who just got fired — is speaking at the event, and it’s clear he’s not in the best mood. “Your father is an accountant and a liar,” he tells a little girl who says her father preaches the value of loving your job. The music teacher’s (Anders Holm) depression is affecting his classroom and he can’t stop lecturing about nihilism to young children.
“Arrested Development,” “Archer,” and “Casual” are among Greer’s recent acting credits.
“A Happening of Monumental Proportions” opens August 24. The comedy co-stars Jennifer Garner (“Love, Simon”), Katie Holmes (“Logan Lucky”), Storm Reid (“A Wrinkle in Time”), Bradley Whitford (“Get Out”), John Cho (“Star Trek” franchise), and Rob Riggle (“Modern Family”).
