A U.S. trailer has arrived for “Chevalier,” award-winning Greek director Athina Rachel Tsangari’s hilarious dark comedy about middle-aged male frenemies.
A group of six men aboard a luxury yacht decide to play a game. They’ll compete to determine who is “The Best at Everything.” But how do you quantify or qualify bestness? The criteria the men agree upon includes morning-time boners and sleep posture. He who earns the most points wins the contest. The game escalates quickly, with its participants desperate to prove their masculinity to one another and themselves.
The footage from the spot reveals which kinds of behaviors are rewarded and which are penalized. Jogging or looking like a cover model lounging on the deck? You’re going to earn some points. Falling when windsurfing or snoring in bed? Expect your score to decrease.
Tsangari’s previous credits include 2000’s “The Slow Business of Going” and 2010’s “Attenberg.”
“Chevalier” made its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival last year and was awarded the Best Film prize in competition at the BFI London Film Festival. Catch it in theaters May 27.
