“I don’t understand anything anymore,” admits Christine Baranski in a new trailer for “The Good Fight’s” fifth season. Diane (Baranski) is left questioning whether it’s appropriate for her to help run a Black law firm with Liz (Audra McDonald) when they lose two top lawyers. “You cannot have a white partner head up a Black firm,” she’s told.
STR Laurie is trying to figure out how they can “create more opportunities for Black lawyers.” Some employees are struggling to adapt to the evolving social climate, which can make it feel like you “need a permission slip to tell a joke.” Others are sick and tired of “general assholery.”
Baranski won an Emmy in 1995 for her supporting role in “Cybill.” Since then, she’s collected over a dozen nods for her work in series such as “Frasier,” “The Big Bang Theory,” and “The Good Wife.” “The Good Fight” is a spin-off of the latter.
A six-time Tony winner, McDonald’s screen credits include “The Bite” and “Private Practice.”
Season 5 of “The Good Fight” kicks off on Paramount+ June 24. Michelle King and Robert King serve as showrunners. Check out the trailer to see Diane and Liz toasting to the future.
