When Homeland killed off Brody and fired Saul from the CIA in the third season’s finale, it pushed the restart button on the show.
The new trailer for Season 4 hints at what’s next: Carrie is still turning to Saul for advice, especially on how to deal with the new CIA director who has it out for her — and may be committing treason against the United States. There’s also a new bad guy Carrie’s chasing after in Pakistan, and now Carrie will work closer with governement assassin Peter (Rupert Friend) and intelligence analyst Fara (Nazanin Boniadni, newly promoted to series regular).
Brody may be dead, but he’s not entirely gone. His baby with Carrie serves as a reminder of their kismet connection, but the CIA agent isn’t sure how to take care of herself and an infant. The last scene of the trailer suggests that Carrie’s unfitness for motherhood may lead her to do the unthinkable.
Homeland returns with two episodes on October 5.
