Trailer Watch: Claire Simon Revisits Marguerite Duras’ Passionate Love Affair in “I Want to Talk About Duras”

"I Want to Talk About Duras"

A trailer has arrived for “I Want to Talk About Duras,” Claire Simon’s French-language drama inspired by French writer Marguerite Duras’ romance with Yann Andréa. Thirty-eight years her junior, Andréa was the source of inspiration for Duras’ 1992 book “Yann Andréa Steiner: A Memoir.”

“I don’t how to start. How to tackle the character Duras,” says Yann (Swann Arlaud). Though he was discouraged from “being a groupie” and buying her flowers, he recalls writing to the author often and declaring his love.

“Gare du Nord,” “God’s Offices,” and “A Foreign Body” are among Simon’s other credits.

“I Want to Talk About Duras” is screening in competition at the San Sebastian Film Festival.
