Trailer Watch: “Derry Girls” Is Back for a Third and Final Season

"Derry Girls"

“Just try to enjoy what time you have left,” we’re told in a new trailer for “Derry Girls.” It’s nearly time to say goodbye to Erin (Saoirse-Monica Jackson), Orla (Louisa Harland), Clare (Nicola Coughlan), Michelle (Jamie-Lee O’Donnell), and James (Dylan Llewellyn): the comedy’s upcoming third season will be its last.

Set in Northern Ireland during The Troubles, the series follows a group of friends attending a Catholic girls’ secondary school. The spot shows the gang confronting “the elephant in the room”: the GCSEs. If they fail their examinations, they’ll be held back.

Still, they’re doing plenty besides studying. “We don’t need to be constantly supervised,” Erin insists. But soon after we’re shown Clare in hysterics. “We will perish in this place,” she cries.

“Derry Girls” was created by Lisa McGee (“Being Human”). A premiere date for Season 3 hasn’t been announced yet.
