Trailer Watch: Diane Joins the Resistance in “The Good Fight” Season 3

"The Good Fight": Patrick Harbron/CBS All Access

Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) has always been a devout liberal feminist, so things have been difficult for her since Trump’s election. Happily it looks like she’s reclaiming her power in “The Good Fight” this season. A trailer for “The Good Wife” spinoff’s third outing has dropped, and so has Diane’s tolerance for bullshit. The spot suggests that she’s been dabbling in civil disobedience.

Recruited by an activist “looking for people who are ready to take the fight to Trump,” Diane declares, “I’m ready to fight, The resistance starts now.”

The other lawyers at Diane’s firm aren’t as sure about their next steps. Maia (Rose Leslie) is paired with blowhard Roland Blum (Michael Sheen, “Masters of Sex”) on a case. A new character inspired by “the Roy Cohns and Roger Stones of the world,” he’s a charmer who takes his pants off in front of Maya and holds meetings at strip clubs. “With Roland Blum, this standard playbook goes out the window,” Maia says in the understatement of the year.

Meanwhile, Lucca (Cush Jumbo) is nervous about the new class of law associates — more are white than black, which is unusual for her predominantly African American office. “Things don’t happen at this firm without a reason,” she comments. What motivated the higher-ups to make this not-so-diverse hire isn’t revealed in the promo.

Broadway mainstay Audra McDonald, Sarah Steele (“The To Do List”), and Delroy Lindo (“The Chicago Code”) also star in “The Good Fight.” Created by Michelle King, Robert King, and Phil Alden Robinson, the drama returns March 14 on CBS All Access.
