In the new trailer for “Frozen II,” Elsa (Idina Menzel) seems a little off — at least according to her sister, Anna (Kristen Bell). Turns out some mystical force has been calling to Elsa, inspiring her to further explore her own powers. To get answers, the sisters and their friends head to the Enchanted Forest.
“It was a magical place, but something went wrong,” their father tells them of the northern kingdom, seemingly referring to some sort of environmental disaster. “Since then, no one can get in or out.” And the same thing is beginning to happen in Arendelle. The clip sees its residents evacuating their homes.
Elsa and Anna won’t just be dealing with ecological threats in the “Frozen” sequel. The former’s interest in sorcery is turning into an obsession. “Magic is alluring,” Anna is told. “Without you, she may lose herself to it.”
“Frozen II” hits theaters November 22. Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck directed and Allison Schroeder (“Hidden Figures”) penned the screenplay.
Released in 2013, “Frozen” netted over $1.27 billion worldwide. It also earned more than $400 million domestically, making it one of the U.S. box office’s highest-grossing women-directed films.
