Trailer Watch: Food Lovers Wine, Dine, & Fall in Love in Isabel Coixet’s “Foodie Love”

"Foodie Love"

A dating app brings foodies together in the first trailer for Isabel Coixet’s upcoming HBO Europe series. Titled “Foodie Love,” the eight-part, half-hour comedy sees a woman (Laia Costa, “Victoria”) and man (Guillermo Pfening, “Supermax”) connect over their shared love of eating and falling hard and fast for one another.

The woman hates licorice and seedless watermelon. The man hates when people take photos of dishes before they try them. The pair are united in the belief that you can’t be a “total idiot” if you’re passionate about food.

The couple’s path isn’t all smooth sailing. Despite being told that “there’s no such thing as too much intimacy,” the man is worried that he’s not ready for a relationship this intense. And the woman is convinced that he’s “a lost soul.”

“Foodie Love” marks Coixet’s first TV series and launches in Spain December 4 before rolling out across the rest of Europe December 25.

“Elisa & Marcela,” “The Bookshop,” and “Learning to Drive” are among Coixet’s feature credits.
