Trailer Watch: Gina Carano Is a Bounty Hunter in “Scorched Earth”

“Scorched Earth”

The world falls apart and Gina Carano is left picking up the pieces in a new trailer for “Scorched Earth.” The action flick is set in the aftermath of an environmental collapse that took billions of lives and nearly destroyed the planet. Humankind has since re-established a rudimentary society where bounty hunters enforce justice. Former MMA fighter Carano is one of them.

The “Deadpool” and “Haywire” actress plays Attica Gage, a woman “with a chance at the bounty of a lifetime: to bring down the ruthless outlaw, Elijah Jackson,” the film’s synopsis details. Attica could secure the biggest bounty authorities have ever offered — or lose her life trying. Her target has formed a settlement and made it a haven for lawbreakers, so it’s not just him she’s up against. But Attica doesn’t seem at all daunted. She “infiltrates Jackson’s gang, and everything is going to plan until she meets a slave girl who reminds her of her dead sister,” the summary hints. “With her loyalty to only herself now tested, Gage learns that there might be more to life than just survival.”

“Scorched Earth” hits theaters and VOD February 2.
