Trailer Watch: Gone Girl Asks, Where’s Amy?

The very first trailer for Gone Girl has been released, and it essentially introduces novelist Gillian Flynn’s story to newbies. While Nick (Ben Affleck) searches for his missing wife Amy (Rosamund Pike), he slowly becomes the police investigation’s main suspect.

Readers of Flynn’s bestselling thriller know, though, that Nick really isn’t the protagonist of the story, and that the central couple’s history is a lot more twisted than it appears upon first (or second or even third) glance. If you haven’t yet read the book, I urge you to pick it up as soon as possible. It’s plays a fantastic mind game with readers, and Flynn, who also wrote the screenplay, has reportedly changed the novel’s controversial ending significantly, so reading the book and watching the movie will probably end up being very different experiences.

I guess we’ll have to wait a little longer to see more of Pike. As is the case these days, I’m sure there will be several more trailers for Gone Girl until it opens on October 3.
