Trailer Watch: “Grace and Frankie” Welcomes Lisa Kudrow in Season 4

“Grace and Frankie”

Grace and Frankie are back, and so are their sex toys. A trailer has dropped for Season 4 of “Grace and Frankie,” and it sees the BFFs getting into some trouble at a college campus. A security guard confronts them about “handing out dildos,” and Grace (Jane Fonda) is quick to tell her, “These are vibrators. We’re empowering young women!”

While she’s wonderfully outspoken about sex toys, Grace is considerably more quiet about her health issues, and is trying to hide the problems her “crap knee” is causing.

Frankie (Lily Tomlin), meanwhile, is unenthusiastic about meeting Grace’s manicurist and friend (Lisa Kudrow) for the first time. “It’s a good thing I’m not allergic to rhinestones,” she quips when forced to hug the bedazzled and oppressively cheerful woman.

“Grace and Frankie” co-creator and showrunner Marta Kauffman has spoken about the void the Netflix comedy helps fill. When asked about what she wanted to explore that had not previously been explored on TV, she said, “Dry vaginas.” She explained, “Truthfully, there was nothing on for women above a certain age. What shows center on four people over 70?” She emphasized that baby boomers constitute a huge percentage of the population, yet “there was nothing for them.”

Season 4 hits Netflix January 19. Check out the trailer to see more of what’s in store — carnage caused by a collapsed ceiling, a birth, the possibility of an open marriage, and much more.
