Don’t mess with a mom and her minivan. In “Kidnap,” Oscar winner Halle Berry plays Karla McCoy, a woman determined to find her son after he’s kidnapped from a park.
A new trailer for the film shows how far Karla is willing to go to get her son back, including risking her life in a high-speed chase on the highway behind the wheel of her minivan.
“Being a parent, I understood this in a very visceral way. I play an ordinary mom forced to act in extraordinary ways,” Berry, a mother of two, told USA Today. “I got to put in a little of what Halle Berry would do in this situation. That was fun.”
The trailer highlights a woman on a mission, and a female-led thriller in the vein of “Taken.” “Kidnap” marks Berry’s first lead role since 2014’s “The Call.” She’d been busy on the CBS sci-fi series “Extant.”
“Kidnap” hits theaters on December 2.
