Trailer Watch: Issa Embraces Single Life in Season 2 of “Insecure”

“Insecure”

Issa and Molly are back for Season 2 of “Insecure,” and a new trailer makes it seem like the BFFs are closer than ever after overcoming some drama last season. Issa’s breakup with long-term boyfriend Lawrence (Jay Ellis) has inspired her to take a new approach to life and seek Molly’s guidance. “I’m done second-guessing myself. I just want to feel good,” Issa (Issa Rae) says. “Girl, I always wanted to have a ho phase. Can you teach me how to ho?” Molly (Yvonne Orji) tries to act outraged and insulted but quickly agrees.

The spot sees Issa entering the dating world of New York City and having a rough go of it. Candid as ever, Issa tells one guy, “This isn’t going anywhere.” As eager as Issa is to enter her “ho phase,” she’s still pining for Lawrence, whom she cheated on. “I betrayed his trust and I have to give him space to forgive me,” she tells her girlfriends. But it’s going to be harder for Lawrence to forgive and forget when the dude Issa cheated on him with, Daniel (Y’lan Noel), is still around — and from the looks of the trailer, he’s still part of the picture.

The sophomore season of “Insecure” kicks off on HBO July 23. Check out the trailer to see Molly’s reaction to finding out her white male co-worker at the firm is earning more money than she is, Issa’s self-described “sexy walk,” and more.
