Issa Rae, the creator of the hit web series “Awkward Black Girl,” is about to land on HBO with her new series “Insecure.”
The eight-episode, half-hour comedy stars Rae, Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, and Lisa Joyce. It follows “the friendship of two black women and their uncomfortable experiences and racy tribulations.”
The series was created and is executive produced by Rae, and is also executive produced by Prentice Penny, Melina Matsoukas, Michael Rotenberg, Dave Becky, and Jonathan Berry. Larry Wilmore (“The Nightly Show”) serves as a consultant.
There’s no official start date yet, but HBO has said that the show will premiere this fall. Check out the hilarious trailer below, which features Rae interacting with a classroom full of inquisitive — and incredibly critical — kids.
