Trailer Watch: Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin Reunite and Hatch a Murder Plot in “Moving On”

"Moving On"

“Grace and Frankie” ended its seven season run back in 2020, but that hasn’t stopped the sitcom’s stars from sharing the screen together. Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin topline “Moving On,” a revenge comedy that made its world premiere at last year’s edition of the Toronto International Film Festival. A new trailer for the pic introduces us to Claire (Fonda) and Evie (Tomlin), old pals who have lost touch. The pair reunite following the death of a mutual friend.

“I’m going to kill you,” Claire tells her dearly departed friend’s husband (Malcolm McDowell). “Now that she’s gone I’m going to do it this weekend.” It’s not clearly laid out why there’s bad blood between the two of them, but we’re told that Claire blames him for her own marriage going sour. “You were delusional,” he tells her. “I think you were not built for happiness.”

Now her happiness seems to depend on getting rid of the widower once and for all. Claire enlist’s Evie’s help and goes shopping for a gun.

Fonda won Oscars for “Coming Home” and “Klute.”

Tomlin received an Oscar nod for “Nashville.”

“Moving On” hits theaters March 17, but you’ll be able to catch Fonda and Tomlin on the big screen before then. The pair star alongside Rita Moreno and Sally Field in “80 for Brady,” a comedy about lifelong friends who travel to Super Bowl LI. It arrives in cinemas this Friday, February 3.
