A new trailer has dropped for Ava, a thriller that sees Jessica Chastain playing a deadly assassin. Considered a liability by one higher-up (Colin Farrell) at the black ops organization she works for and “best of breed” by another (John Malkovich), Ava keeps getting in trouble for talking to the targets and breaking protocol. “Why would someone not want you to be alive anymore?” she asks one of her marks.
A job goes terribly wrong and Ava finds herself fighting for her own survival when one of her bosses orders a hit on her.
Chastain’s production company, Freckle Films, recently acquired the rights to adapt Alice Feeney’s latest novel, “His & Hers,” for TV. The psychological thriller takes place in the aftermath of a murder and centers on a newsreader covering the case and a detective suspicious of her involvement.
A two-time Oscar nominee, Chastain received nods for her roles in “Zero Dark Thirty” and “The Help.” She was most recently seen in “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” and “It Chapter Two.” Her upcoming projects include spy thriller “355” and a holiday comedy co-starring Octavia Spencer. The pair banded together during the negotiating process for the untitled pic to ensure fair compensation.
No word on a release date for “Ava” yet.
