Jessica Chastain crosses paths with a Dr. Death-type in “The Good Nurse.” A new trailer for the Netflix thriller introduces us to Amy (Chastain), a single mom dealing with long shifts at the hospital and a life-threatening heart condition. The nurse finds a friend in Charlie (Eddie Redmayne), an empathetic new nurse in her unit who is always willing to lend her an ear and help out where he can.
When multiple patients die under mysterious circumstances, Amy is shocked to discover that Charlie is the prime suspect. She joins forces with the authorities to learn more about her BFF’s shady past. “He’s been killing people without ever touching them,” we’re told.
Chastain won an Oscar this year for “The Eyes of Tammy Faye.” She previously received nods for “Zero Dark Thirty” and “The Help.”
Based on true events, “The Good Nurse” hits select theaters October 19 and Netflix October 26. Krysty Wilson-Cairns (“Last Night in Soho,” “1917”) penned the script.
