Trailer Watch: Jodie Turner-Smith Is “Anne Boleyn”

"Anne Boleyn"

“The world will know my innocence,” vows Jodie Turner-Smith in a new trailer for “Anne Boleyn.” Penned by Eve Hedderwick Turner, the three-part Channel 5 psychological thriller sees the “Queen & Slim” breakout playing the former Queen of England.

The second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Queen Elizabeth I, Boleyn was beheaded for treason and other charges in 1536, but as the spot suggests, she was really executed because she didn’t give birth to a son and secure the king’s line of succession with a male heir. “You promised me sons,” her husband (Mark Stanley) charges.

Anne won’t be going down without a fight. “Fear can be fuel,” she observes. “Let your fear drive you to be bigger, louder. The sky itself will not limit you.”

Turner-Smith starred alongside Daniel Kaluuya in 2019’s “Queen & Slim,” Melina Matsoukas’ DGA Award-nominated feature debut. She can currently be seen in Tom Clancy adaptation “Without Remorse.”

“Anne Boleyn” premieres later this month.
