Teen sisters team up to take down a corporation in a new trailer for “Radium Girls.” Bessie (Joey King) and Jo (Abby Quinn) have jobs painting glow-in-the-dark watch dials at the American Radium Factory in New Jersey when the latter begins to experience medical issues. Jo is dizzy, her joints ache, and she loses a tooth, but a doctor is quick to assure her that nothing is wrong and she’s “healthy as a horse.”
Fortunately, the sisters seek a second opinion. After being warned that exposure to radium can cause devastating tissue damage, Bessie investigates further and becomes determined to take American Radium down.
The trailer sees Bessie trying to convince her former co-workers that “radium is poison.” Her battle with American Radium goes all the way to the courtroom.
King received Emmy and Golden Globe nods for “The Act.” “The Kissing Booth” and “The Conjuring” are among her other credits.
Quinn’s credits include “Mad About You,” “Good Girls Get High,” and “Landline.”
“Radium Girls” is based on true events in the late 1920s and marks the feature directorial debut of Academy Award-nominated “Cutie and the Boxer” producer Lydia Dean Pilcher and filmmaker Ginny Mohler. The pic hits theaters April 3. Mohler and Brittany Shaw penned the script.
