“Have you ever forgotten something? Something big?” asks Julia Roberts in a new trailer for “Homecoming.” Formerly employed as a caseworker at Homecoming, a facility that helps soldiers transition to civilian life, Heidi (Roberts) can’t seem to remember her old job. When asked what her duties entailed, she says, “I don’t know.”
In the years since, she’s started a new life. She lives with her mother and works as a waitress. It’s only when a Department of Defense auditor begins to question why she left the Homecoming facility that Heidi realizes “there’s a whole other story behind the story she’s been telling herself,” according to the show’s official synopsis.
The trailer doesn’t offer much in the way of answers, but the footage certainly suggests that Homecoming is up to some shady business, and their aim is not simply to help vets.
“Wonder” and “Money Monster” are among Roberts’ recent credits. She’ll be seen next on the big screen in “Ben Is Back,” set to bow December 7. The drama recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and sees the Oscar winner playing a mother welcoming her son, a recovering addict, home.
Created by “Mr. Robot’s” Sam Esmail, “Homecoming” premieres November 2 on Amazon Prime.
