Trailer Watch: Kate Mara Attempts to Control Anya Taylor-Joy’s “Morgan”

“Morgan”: Fox

Anya Taylor-Joy burst onto the scene earlier this year in the creepy yet subtle horror movie “The Witch” and seemed destined for stardom. Moving on from that cursed Pilgrim, she’s now appearing in “Morgan” as some type of human experiment gone rogue.

The newly released trailer for “Morgan” is reminiscent of “Ex Machina,” which also featured an imprisoned woman of great power. It was hailed as one of the best sci-fi films of 2015, and launched the career of Alicia Vikander.

As “Morgan’s” official synopsis reads, “A corporate troubleshooter (Mara) is sent to a remote, top-secret location, where she is to investigate and evaluate a terrifying accident. She learns the event was triggered by a seemingly innocent ‘human,’ who presents a mystery of both infinite promise and incalculable danger.”

“Morgan” also stars Rose Leslie, Michelle Yeoh, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Toby Jones, and Paul Giamatti. It hits theaters on September 2.
