“Dear Dick, you’re like a Roman god bringing the spirit of sex into our lives,” says Chris (Kathryn Hahn) in a trailer for the memorably-titled upcoming Amazon series “I Love Dick.” Chris isn’t thanking a therapist for revitalizing her sex life — she’s addressing someone who has told her to “stay the hell away from [him].” And he doesn’t seem like he’ll have a change of heart, either: “I don’t find you interesting. Not now. Not ever,” Dick emphasizes.
Created by Jill Soloway, the brains behind Emmy winner “Transparent,” and Sarah Gubbins, “I Love Dick” “tells the story of an struggling married couple (played by Hahn and Griffin Dunne) who move to Marfa to study with an enigmatic professor, Dick,” the series’ official synopsis details. “As the couple become drawn to Dick, their lives are turned upside down with unintended, but exciting consequences.”
“We are grown ups with a healthy, adult fantasy life,” Chris tells her husband. But the trailer suggests that Dick, the object of their affection, would say otherwise.
“I Love Dick” premieres on Amazon May 12.
