Kristen Stewart is in love and she wants everyone to know it. A new trailer for Clea DuVall’s “Happiest Season” sees the “Twilight” alumna ditching Edward Cullen for a new soulmate. Abby (Stewart) is convinced that Harper (Mackenzie Davis) is her “person,” and she’s ready to take their relationship to the next level: she’s planning to propose at her girlfriend’s annual Christmas dinner, where she’ll be meeting Abby’s family for the first time. There’s just one hitch: Shortly before arriving at her parents’ house, Harper tells Abby that her parents don’t know she’s gay — and they think that Abby is her friend who is coming to celebrate the holidays with them because she’s an orphan.
“I’m scared that if I tell them who I really am I will lose them,” Harper explains. “I am not hiding you. I am hiding me.”
As Abby’s own BFF (Daniel Levy) emphasizes, “Everybody’s story is different. Just because Harper isn’t ready doesn’t mean she doesn’t love you.”
Stewart’s recent credits include “Underwater,” “Charlie’s Angels,” and “Seberg.”
Davis is known for “Halt and Catch Fire,” “Terminator: Dark Fate,” and “Blade Runner 2049.”
DuVall made her feature directorial debut with 2016 Sundance pic “The Intervention.” “Better Call Saul,” “Heroes,” and “But I’m a Cheerleader” are among her acting credits. She co-wrote “Happiest Season” with her “Veep” co-star Mary Holland. The rom-com hits Hulu November 25.
