Trailer Watch: Krysten Ritter’s Hero’s Journey Concludes in “Jessica Jones'” Final Season

"Jessica Jones"

Yet another bad guy wants Jessica Jones to die — but this one really has it in for her, and he’s determined to prove her a fraud. A trailer has dropped for the third and final season of Netflix’s “Jessica Jones,” and sees the hard-drinking PI (Krysten Ritter) squaring off against a dude with the world’s biggest chip on his shoulder. “You’re a cheater,” he insists. “You were given every advantage. Allowed to make mistake after mistake after mistake. You can’t control yourself. You have no discipline. Just brute force.”

Throughout the course of the series, Jessica has grappled with what it means to be a hero. And she’s always been a reluctant one. Her new adversary is “twice as smart” as her and Trish (Rachael Taylor) combined, and that’s by Jessica’s own account, so he knows how to prey on her insecurities. “You believe you can save the world, but you’re terrified you’ve already failed them — and you have, because you are not, and you will never be, a hero,” he says.

“Jessica Jones” returns June 14. Melissa Rosenberg created the Marvel series, which featured an all-women directing team in Season 2. Ritter stepped behind the camera this season to make her directorial debut.
