“Surveillance is not only a breach of privacy, but it is violence — it does things to you,” we’re told in a new trailer for “Terror Contagion.” Described as “a visual study of the investigation by Forensic Architecture into the Israeli cyberweapons manufacturer NSO Group and the use of its Pegasus malware to target journalists and human rights defenders worldwide,” Laura Poitras’ latest is now available to view online.
The spot for the short doc features interviewees reflecting on being targeted. One character describes having their privacy being infringed on as being “like somebody’s sitting in your mind.” Another reveals that they have nightmares about being interrogated.
Poitras won an Oscar for “Citizenfour,” her 2014 doc about NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden. Her other credits include “Risk” and “The Oath.”
